THIS BASTE IS A SIMPLE & EASY RECIPE THAT WILL SPICE UP THAT BLAN TOFURKY. THE BEST PART: YOU LIKELY HAVE ALL THE INGREDIENTS IN YOUR PANTRY.

INGREDIENTS

If you have ever bought a Tofurky roast you probably noticed the minimal ingredient baste recipe on the back of the box. Well, I decided to add a bit more ingredients to make it extra tasty. Here is what I came up with:

First you’ll need to thaw your Tofurky roast for 24 hours in the fridge. You can find this roast at Sprouts, Whole Foods or Von’s. once your tofurkey is defrosted you will want to cut the metal pieces of each side of the wrapper or use scissors and cut the plastic off. Once this is complete we are ready to get started.

LETS GET STARTED

Step 1: Pre-heat your oven to 350 F

Step 2: Assemble the baste by mixing the soy sauce, olive oil, maple syrup (this will give the roast a nice glaze), minced garlic, oregano, thyme and cumin.

Step 3: Cut the baby carrots and the baby potatoes in half slices (refer to photo). This is going to ensure that they are cooked thoroughly. Feel free to add or substitute these with butternut squash, red onions or any other vegetable of choice. The options are endless.

Step 4: Place your Tofurkey on a pan or oven safe bowl; then place your vegetables in a circle around the roast (I also added fresh thyme/rosemary across my pan but this is completely optional and not necessary if you’re using dried herbs). Pour only half of the baste over the roast and vegetables.

Step 5: Due to this being a faux Turkey you're going to want to cut some small slits on the top of your roast before placing it in the oven. Ive used this Tofurkey roast 3 years in a row and each year it was hard to cut after cooking. These slits at the top will help with an easier cut after its finished.

Step 6: Place the roast in the oven for 1 hour. If needed, check on it and move the vegetables around to ensure they are cooked evenly. After 1 hour pour the remaining baste on the roast and place it back in the oven for 15 minutes. You can also split the remaining baste in another half and pour additional baste once its complete.

— The total duration of oven time is 1 hour and 15 minutes.

… aaanddd there we have it! A beautifully roasted Tofurkey with much more flavor and a perfect glaze. If you have any additional questions do not hesitate to email or message me on my Instagram. If you recreate this tag me @lovebyplants in your post…
